Should You Take a Santorini Jet Ski Tour?

The obvious answer is yes. Santorini is often imaged as a romantic spot where you can dine overlooking the blue waters and enjoy pools in cave hotels, but it is so much more than that. It really is one of the best places to visit in Greece.

The island is extremely touristy, and taking a jet ski safari in Santorini will give you a different perspective and a unique side of the island.

It truly is relaxing, and you’ll also have the opportunity to swim along the way and learn more about the volcano that shaped this popular Mediterranean island.

While a jet ski tour in Santorini is not cheap per se, it will leave you with one of your most memorable travel experiences, for sure. It is a must-add to your Santorini itinerary!

Best Jet Ski Tour in Santorini

There are quite a few jet ski tours in Santorini, but none are as top-rated and awesome as the jet ski safari from Perivolos.

It offers three tour options: a South Coast Tour, a Volcano Tour, and an Extreme Volcano Tour. Our top pick is the volcano tour because it combines the South Coast tour with a trip to the volcano and is unlike any other tour you can take in Santorini!

Practical Information for the Tour

Languages: English, French, Greek
Cancellation Policy: Very flexible
Available: April – October
Meeting Point: Wavesports Club at Perivolos Beach (near the Chilli Lounge Bar)

Each tour will have a safety briefing before you start the tour. The prices for the tour are PER JET SKI, not per person. If you want to rent multiple jet skis, then select the number when booking. The person driving the jet ski must be 18 years of age.

As noted above, this tour does not run during winter in Santorini.  You can see more details about each Santorini jet ski safari below.

If you’re a more adventurous type of traveler, be sure to consider the Extreme Jet Ski Santorini tour, which also includes Thirasia and Oia in the mix!

This tour is recommended only for those with prior jet skiing experience, as it is a bit more demanding than the aforementioned tours.

The journey starts at Perivolos and heads to the following locations:

  • Vlyhada
  • Red Beach
  • Kampia
  • White Beach
  • Pharos of Akrotiri
  • Caldera
  • Volcanoes
  • Skaros

  • Armeni Bay

  • Aspronisi

This tour will allow you to visit the gorgeous island of Thirasia and see the cliffs of the Caldera up close and personal! You will have a chance to swim and snorkel along the way and see the well-known ports of Armeni and Ammoudi.

Tips for Jet Ski Tours in Santorini

There are some things you should know before booking a Santorini jet ski tour.  Here are some of our top tips:

Book Early!

These tours are only available from April until October, and they book up so quickly, especially during the summer months. Be sure to book as far in advance as you can.

Bring a Camera

Well, a waterproof one!  We always travel with our GoPro and recommend you bring yours for the journey if you have one.  You will be given a plastic pouch for your mobile phone.

However, there will be a motorboat coming along for the journey that will photograph you and your Santorini jet ski excursion. You can purchase some photos from the trip but are under no obligation to do so.

How to Get to Perivolos Beach

All jet ski tours leave from Perivolos Beach in Santorini. There are a couple of ways to get there from various parts of the island.

My top recommendation is to hire a Welcome Pickups driver. I use Welcome Pickups all around Greece and love the convenience and drivers I have had! You can book a Welcome Pickups transfer here.

Alternatively, you can take a bus from Fira to Perivolos. The ride takes about 30 minutes and will cost just over €1. If you’re coming from Oia and other parts of Santorini, you will need to grab a bus to Fira and then switch to the bus mentioned above.

You can take a taxi from Fira which will be anywhere from €18-23.

There is parking at Perivolos if you have a rental and choose to drive there.

What to Bring Jet Skiing in Santorini

If you’re looking for a few things to bring when on a jet ski in Santorini, we definitely recommend sunscreen, a bathing suit, and sunglasses.  If you’d like to bring a hat for added protection, that is a good idea too.

Santorini Jet Ski Rentals

Are you looking to independently rent a jet ski in Santorini and not go on an official tour.  Well, the tour is far more exciting, but renting a jet ski is easy and a great idea if you’re looking for a way to break up the day!

You can rent a jet ski for 10-minute intervals around Santorini and will receive a quick briefing. Basic swimming skills are required and you must be at least 14 years old (accompanied by a parent).

Santorini jet ski rentals are available from May until October.
