I will go into detail about storing luggage in Rovaniemi city center, at the Rovaniemi Airport, and Santa Claus Village.

There are many images in my head of Rovaniemi in winter. First there is the snow. And then there’s the northern lights. And then… there are a copious number of suitcases shoved into every nook and cranny at Espresso House while their owners sip hot cups of coffee, awaiting their flight (or hotel check-in).
I remember thinking it was a shame there was no luggage storage in Rovaniemi. And after a little bit of research (which included actually reading signs in front of stores here), I realized that we DO, in fact, have some pretty reasonable options for storing luggage in Rovaniemi.

So I want to talk about them here so that visitors are aware that you can store suitcases in Rovaniemi, Santa Claus Village, and the Rovaniemi Airport without having to lug them around for hours on end. And all options I include here are affordable and safe. No, you’re not just dropping your suitcase off at a souvenir shop (not claiming that it is unsafe, but there are better options).
This guide contains my top options for luggage storage in Rovaniemi. I give one trusted option in the city center, one at Santa Claus Village, and the single option you have at the Rovaniemi Airport. If you have any questions, please let me know in the comments.
In this guide, I’ll walk you through the following:
Luggage Storage in Rovaniemi
Luggage Storage in Rovaniemi City Center
My top pick for storing luggage in Rovaniemi is at Rovaniemi Insider in the city center. Rovaniemi Insider is an accommodation and tour company in the city that is locally owned and well-respected. They offer lockers.

I am not a big fan of luggage storage that is given to random businesses and taken to a back room (I know that is bad to say because I’ve done it, but I always feel more secure when I have a locker). This option is not that at all.
Rovaniemi Insider charges €15 per locker, per day. And around 10 suitcases can fit inside these lockers. They are huge.

Most companies here charge € 5 per bag per day, which in theory sounds good, but when you consider your suitcase and backpack or hand luggage, along with the luggage for the people in your travel group, it really adds up. Rovaniemi Insider’s is just a flat €15/day for as much as you can shove into the locker.
Booking ahead is extremely important, however. There’s a finite number of lockers, and this is a popular storage method during the winter. The storage is available 24/7 and you will receive instructions via WhatsApp after making your booking.
Pro Tip
Only have one bag and don’t want to pay €15 for an entire locker? You can head over to Winterent (Jaakonkatu 3), where they take in bags for €5/day per bag. They are open from 9:30am to 7pm daily and you can pre-book online. Winterent is only open during the winter months.
Rovaniemi Insider is located very centrally at Korkalonkatu 36 and in order to take your bags there, you will need to walk to their building and go around the back (you can see photos below). You’ll press your code to get in, and once you’re in the building, go left.

Wrap around the hallway to the left until you see a sign on the door (left-hand side) that says ‘Luggage Storage’. Then you can grab your key and lock and you’re sorted!
Good to Know
If you’re traveling with winter equipment like a snowboard or skis, this is a perfect option as the lockers are very tall and you can fit oversized items in them.
Luggage Storage at Santa Claus Village
If you are in Santa Claus Village and need to store bags, no worries… There is a place! Santa Claus Holiday Village (the wooden, red lodging that you can’t miss) takes in bags for €5/day per bag.
You do not need to pre-book this and can show up and arrange this at their reception, which is open 24/7. They are located at Tähtikuja 2.
Luggage Storage at the Rovaniemi Airport
There is luggage storage available at the Rovaniemi Airport, which is a great option if you’re continuing to other destinations and returning to Rovaniemi (like Tromsø). Baggage storage at the airport is available for check-in as early as 3:30am and as late as 1am.

You can arrange all on the spot at the airport’s information desk. Prices are €10/bag per day.
