  2. I’d also suggest Echmiadzin as a day trip for anyone who likes visiting religious sites – it’s the center of Armenian spiritual life and Armenian Apostolic church. It has some truly great churches from the early period of Christianity in Armenia. The ruins of Zvartnots Cathedral are also very close. I’d also say don’t visit Garni without going to Geghard monastery. The two sites are just 10 km away from each other and both are stunning. There are 6364859595 monasteries in Armenia, but I find Geghard truly special, because of the way it’s carved in the rocks. You can either hike or take a cab for like 1000 AMD. I also quite liked a trip to Ashtarak and a nearby Mughni monastery. While there, have a lunch at Pascal&Diodato restaurant, it’s great! Sagmosavank and Hovannavank, 5 km away from each other are another great monasteries that make a good day trip without a ton of tourists and a truly amazing view on the Kasagh river canyon. There are so many options, which is exactly why Yerevan makes a great base <3

  3. Hi, I love them all but I really, but would really recommend the opera if you like classical music and if there is anything on if you’re there – they got two kiosks in the park area behind the opera, to the left for opera, to the right for concert. Tickets are extremely cheap by Western Standards, the interior is in amazingly authentic 1980’s Grand Soviet, and the atmosphere and quality of performances are really good. Also, for food I recommend the SAS Foodcourt in Arshakunyats Ave – slightly out of the centre, its like eating in a daytime disco, but tons of great food at ridiculous prices.

    1. Yes to all that! Classical music lovers should also visit the concert hall in Cafesjian Centre for the Arts, they have some really great musicians sometimes, from Armenia and abroad, and you can tickets for like 2000 AMD.
