  1. hi! i’ll be going there in a few weeks. you wrote good information. how many hours \km is the right trail and how many is the left suppose to take? if the bus to bishkek is at 17;30 do i have enough time for the glacier trail?
    are there maps?

    1. Hi Dina!

      Thanks for your message!

Unfortunately, I am not 100% sure about the left trail as I didn’t take it and was there during the winter. But I did find these two resources that may assist:

As for the right, if you get to the second gate and start the hike from there, it is really only like 30 minutes max! It took me ages as I kept stopping and taking photos and stuff. Although I got to what I thought was the end, it may not have been and may extend (but it was winter and hard to judge then!) It was hardly a hike at all.

From what it seems on that Lonely planet reference above, the glacier is about a two-day hike. I doubt you can make it in merely one day, sadly. Regarding a map, I just downloaded a google map beforehand for the region. I never got lost, but then again, I was on such an easy hike there! This link may help, however:

Good luck and please let me know how things turn out!

  2. Ahhh and with each of your articles I’m falling more and more in love with Central Asia. And those photos! <3

    1. I am so in love with that region. I really want to go back and explore the area over a few years… just need to work on my driving skills and buy a car haha. But the scenery is just out of this world!
