  1. Györ is a pretty city. It’s really cool to walk around or chill in the old town. And everything is cheap.. I live in Vienna so it is only a little more than an hour by train. And I have to say I love Mitteleuropa (Central Europe). Vienna is a great case to explore all the cities of the former Habsburg Empire which encompasses most of Central Europe. Anyway, I def liked seeing your photos of Györ!

    1. Hi Jeff! Thanks for your message! I am so sorry for the no-reply. I mentioned above to someone else that I haven’t seen any comments come through on this post and I am gutted it has taken me so long to come across this! I definitely love Mitteleuropa too :) Such fascinating places and once you get outside of the obvious places, you find little gems like Gyor :)

  2. That should read ‘I’m NOW looking at options’ – apologies. We’re 54 and behave a bit like youngsters, rather than booking all-in-trips and fancy hotels.

  3. Last year myself and my husband went to Berlin and Colditz, and Dresden – and Gorlitz. We’d never heard of Gorlitz, and chose to stay for 2 nights simply because it was right on the border between Germany and Poland, and that way we could visit another country. Gorlitz and it’s environs turned out to be charming. Delighted we took a chance on it, and as we’ve booked flights to Bratislava this November, and flights back home to Dublin(Ireland) from Budapest 9 days later, I’m not looking at options – two nights in Bratislava, and then perhaps 3 in Vienna and 4 in Budapest. But I’m interested in Gyor – and so your account is wonderful. I doubt we’ll get such blue skies!
