In this guide, I’ll walk you through the following:
About Tibumana Waterfall in Bali
Tibumana Waterfall (Air Terjun Tibumana) is a semi-popular waterfall in the Apuan village in the Bangli Regency in Bali. It is around 45 minutes to an hour from Ubud, easy to reach along a picturesque road through rice paddies.
Tibumana Waterfall: The Essentials
Location: 45 minutes from Ubud; exact location
Visitor hours: 7 am until 6 pm daily
Entrance fee: 25,000 IDR (about $1.50); cash only
Hike difficulty: very easy on a mostly paved path
Time needed at waterfall: an hour is enough
Amenities: changing room, toilets, lockers, warungs at the entrance and near the waterfall
While the waterfall isn’t very high (maybe 10 meters or 33 feet), the spot is beautiful and surrounded by well-maintained gardens, paths, and two bamboo bridges.

The waterfall is pretty powerful despite how short it is compared to other waterfalls in Bali! I visited in September, and it still had a pretty good flow despite being toward the latter part of the dry season.
How to Get to Tibumana Waterfall
Tibumana Waterfall can be reached by car, motorbike, or taxi from various places around the island. From Ubud, Tibumana Waterfall is 15.3 km, or 9.5 mi. It takes around 45 minutes to reach the waterfall if traffic plays nicely!
From Canggu and the Seminyak area, it is about a 40 km (25 mi) journey, and it takes nearly 1.5 hours to reach the waterfall, depending on traffic and what part of the area you’re coming from.
Taking a Tour to Tibumana Waterfall
There are a few tours that go to Tibumana, but I really recommend getting on a private one so you can control your time spent at the falls a bit!

This affordable tour goes to Tibumana and also stops at the rice terrace, Tukad Cepung Waterfall, Kanto Lampo Waterfall, and Tirta Empul.
Hiring a Private Driver for the Day
I visited Tibumana Waterfall with a private driver whom I had hired for the day, coming in from Canggu. This is the ultimate way to get around and is very affordable, especially if you’re traveling with a group and can split the cost.
The driver is also able to wait for you at the waterfall, so you don’t have to worry about overpaying to get a driver for the way back, which can be a challenge at waterfalls in Bali.

The driver that I hired was named Yogi, and his WhatsApp business contact is +62 812 3779 7830. I used his services several times in Bali – he was wonderful and spoke excellent English.
Taking a Grab or Gojek to Tibumana Waterfall
Some of the waterfalls in Bali are picky about allowing Grab/Gojeks in the area. The ticket area for the waterfall is removed from the entrance and warungs, so you will likely need to get dropped off and walk a bit of a distance to the waterfall.
Parking is 5,000 IDR ($0.30), so if they allow you in with a driver, you may need to pay that fee, but I don’t think you will be able to get through the check-in area.
Price, Visitor Information, and My Experience
In 2025, the Tibumana Waterfall entrance fee is 25,000 IDR (about $1.50). You will pay for your ticket before you even enter the complex, as there is a ticket booth set up that you can pay from your car (in my case, the driver sorted it out). They only accept cash.

Once you get past the ticket station, you will need to drive further in, and there is a parking lot before reaching the restaurants. There are toilets in this area, but there is also one down near the waterfall if you want to wait.
The toilet near the waterfall also has a changing area and some lockers (5,000 IDR / $0.30 to rent). There is also a restaurant called Goa Harta down there. Just to keep in mind.

Okay, back to the entrance area! There are a few warungs in the area, most notably D’Carik Tibumana, Uma Sari, and Nova. You can grab a bite before or after the waterfall visit if you’ve worked up an appetite!
The walk to the waterfall is around 15 minutes and is mostly paved. There are some areas where you will have nice pebbles instead of pavement, but there are railings for much of the descent.

It was one of the easier waterfalls I visited in Bali. The journey to the falls is beautiful and looked after! There are fountains, beautiful flora, and it was honestly my favorite thing about visiting Tibumana!
There are two bamboo bridges you will need to cross to reach the waterfall. Don’t worry – they are sturdy even though one didn’t feel so.

The waterfall area has a few places to sit around and it may be crowded depending on what time you arrive. It wasn’t too bad and I was there in the early afternoon, when it was supposed to be at its busiest.

You can swim in the waterfall’s pool, but there was not really anyone doing so when I was there.
There is a sign indicating that you cannot swim under the waterfall for safety reasons, but there is a zone in the natural pool that does permit swimming. The water color isn’t as impressive as other waterfalls in Bali, to be honest, but paired with the lush walk down to it, it was worth the visit.

Tibumana Waterfall is open from 7 am until 6 pm daily and I would advise visiting as early as possible to avoid the crowds and tour groups.
Tibumana Waterfall FAQ
Can you swim in Tibumana Waterfall?
Yes, as indicated above, you can swim in Tibumana Waterfall. However, there is an area you are not permitted to swim and that is right underneath the falls.

There is a large sign indicating everything, so be sure not to break the rules. I didn’t see any lifeguards monitoring the area when I was there, but I have read that they do sometimes have people down there.
Is the hike to Tibumana difficult?
Nope! The walk was around 15 minutes, involved some stairs, but was pretty easy. It is nothing like the waterfalls up near Munduk, for sure!
Are there places to eat around Tibumana Waterfall?
There are quite a few restaurants and warungs in the area, as discussed above. This is the perfect spot to grab lunch and relax for a bit, overlooking the rice paddies. Just be sure to bring cash with you.

When is the best time to visit?
I visited in the dry season and would probably recommend it due to the still-powerful flow of the waterfall and it not being muddy.
However, there is a second waterfall that only shows up during the rainier months, so it is up to you. I visited in September.

Other Waterfalls Near Tibumana Waterfall
There are plenty of other waterfalls worth visiting near Tibumana and here are some of my suggestions:
- Tegenungan Waterfall: popular and can be seen from Omma Dayclub’s terrace, so it is a good way to visit the waterfall and enjoy some food at the same time.
- Suwat Waterfall: a lesser-visited waterfall that is kind of pricey (40,000 IDR, or $2.50) compared to others, but worth stopping by if you’re in the area; read my full Suwat Waterfall guide
- Tukad Cepung Waterfall: an impressive waterfall tucked in a jungle cave – involves some steeper steps, but is beautiful
- Ulu Petanu Waterfall: one of the most picturesque in the area, but can get busy; read my full guide to visiting Ulu Petanu here
- Taman Sari Waterfall: shallow natural pool and swimming area; two-tiered waterfall
- Kanto Lampo: popular with photographers because of its unique appearance; water flows over the rocks into a small pool below; read my full guide to Kanto Lampo Waterfall
You can find the location of these waterfalls on the map below.

I think Tibumana Waterfall is worth the visit, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to only visit it if there are no other sites in the area you’re planning to stop by. If you are planning a waterfall day around Ubud, definitely throw it on the list!
