  1. I’m glad you mention some of the lesser known cities/towns of Slovakia. Some are definitely worth visiting, although with young people, I don’t know what they expect when they do venture out of the bigger cities…..bumpin’ nightlife? Populated streets? Large squares? Restaurants open at all hours of the day/night? Well, they may be surprised that aside for quaint beauty and simple life, some Slovak villages do not cater to such ‘tourists’. I am also surprised that Bratislava is slammed for having ‘dull and grey buildings’. I’d say remarks such as these are not worth repeating especially since there is no truth to that and the statements probably come from a generation that has no appreciation for history and culture. Another item in your post that irks me is regurgitating “Slovakia is very tourist-unfriendly when it comes to trains and transportation to and from places” from a random conversation you had. Once again, why repeat something that is not true and paints a false picture of Bratislava? I will not apologize for my ‘scolding’ as I am originally from there and have recently returned only to pleasantly find that public transport within Bratislava, all of Slovakia and to anywhere outside of the country (including connections/linkage) is fantastic and has vastly improved. The added bonus is that Slovakia has some of the cheapest public transport in Europe. Please take extra caution and check your facts prior to engaging in keyboard strokes. All the best in your future travels to Slovakia.

  2. Eger is a gem to visit, from wine to cheese to hot springs and beautiful architecture it’s truly a magical place to visit. Then a short train ride through the bukk mountains to Szilvasvarad You can explore the home of the Lipizan horses. Or the town before Szilvasvarad with its lake and two tower church where at one time multiple Royal crowns were stored including the French Crown the Knights Templars protected. Lilafured is a neat mountain town with a castle hotel looking at a lake surrounded by Forrests. Driving through the bukk mountains passing little lost villages You see castles that rarely see tourists. Regards to Gyor visiting the island is neat.

  3. Győr is indeed an enchanting city. My personal favourite is Esztergom though. The basilica and the view over the Danube is breathtaking.

    1. Even the drive along the Danube to get to Esztergom is beautiful, passing Szentendre and Visegrad…. it’s a trip that You can never get bored of.
