  1. I’ve actually been in Györ. Stayed in Hotel Szárnyaskérek, but it’s more than 10 years ago, so it might be renamed – or no longer exit. I thought it was a surprisingly pretty town, especially the Baroque architecture and the golden statues.

    1. i was so shocked! it makes me wonder what other cities across europe are a secret too….

    2. Tata in Hungary (Restaurant Platan is currently one of the best in Hungary with MIchelin-starred chef but bistro prices, and the area around the lake is beautiful)

    3. That sounds delicious!! I will definitely keep in mind next time I am there- I hope it is soon :)

  2. I hate museums too!! So do I need to add Gyor to my list for Hungary? In a few days I’ll be in Poland (for about two weeks?), then Slovakia, and then Hungary. Any tips for where I should go?! Because I’m the worst at planning and still have no clue, haha.

    1. yep im definitely two months behind in responding to comments and i know youve already been to all the places :( i suck.

    2. It is very surprising nobody in Bratislava or Gyór informed you that Napoleon I stayed 2 nights in that city – while on one of his trips to battle.

  3. I’ve actually been to a wedding just outside of Gyor :) In Pannonhalma, there is an abbey which is a UNESCO world heritage site and they make good wine there (actually, I thought all the wine I drank in Hungary was really great).

    1. thats awesome! i think i researched pannonhalma a bit before realizing it wasnt a feasible day trip and ended up randomly in gyor! im not sure ive actually met anyone who has heard of the city, so that is pretty impressive haha. maybe it was just me living in the dark all these years ;)
